Imagine a beautiful white horse with giant wings. He can fly high in the bright blue sky.
His name is Pegasus. He comes from very old stories told long ago in ancient Greece.
Pegasus is not a normal animal. He is entirely made of pure magic.
His mother was a scary monster named Medusa. His father was a powerful ocean king.
When Medusa was defeated, amazing magic happened. Pegasus popped right out into the world.
He was already a fully grown horse. He shook his brilliant white wings.
He stamped his hard hooves on the ground. Then he flew straight up into the air.
He flew higher than the soft clouds. He reached the special home of the gods.
The gods loved this beautiful creature instantly. They let him roam free everywhere.
Pegasus found a quiet green mountain. He hit the ground hard with his strong foot.
A magic spring of water suddenly appeared there. This fresh water was very special.
Anyone who drank it got great ideas. It helped people write beautiful new songs.
Down on earth, a young hero watched the sky. His name was Bellerophon.
Bellerophon really wanted to ride Pegasus. But you cannot just easily catch a magic horse.
Pegasus was incredibly fast. He was wild and totally free in the sky.
The hero went to sleep in a quiet temple. He had a very vivid dream.
A friendly goddess visited him in his sleep. She gave him a shiny golden object.
It was a golden bridle for a horse. When Bellerophon woke up, it was entirely real.
The shiny bridle was right there in his hand. He was completely amazed by the magic.
He went to look for the flying horse. He found Pegasus drinking from the magic spring.
Bellerophon walked up very quietly. He gently showed Pegasus the shiny golden bridle.
Pegasus did not run away this time. The magic bridle calmed the flying horse.
Pegasus let the hero put it on his head. They were a real team now.
Bellerophon climbed onto the horse’s strong back. Pegasus flapped his mighty wings hard.
They zoomed fast into the bright sky. Flying on Pegasus felt absolutely amazing.
The hero felt like he could do anything. But serious danger was coming soon.
A terrible king gave the hero a bad job. He had to fight a giant scary monster.
This monster was called the Chimera. It had a lion head and a goat body.
It breathed extremely hot fire. It also had a long snake for a tail.
It was the scariest monster on earth. Most heroes would run away in total fear.
But Bellerophon had his brave flying horse. They flew right toward the giant fire.
The Chimera roared and blew huge flames. The hot fire reached high into the air.
Pegasus was fast and very smart. He dodged the dangerous fire perfectly every single time.
He kept his human rider entirely safe. They swooped down quickly from the high clouds.
Bellerophon used a long sharp spear. They attacked the scary monster together as a team.
Because Pegasus could fly, they had a huge advantage. The angry monster could not catch them.
Bellerophon threw heavy lead into the monster’s mouth. The hot fire melted the lead quickly.
The scary monster was finally defeated forever. Everyone cheered loudly for the hero and his horse.
They were very famous now. They went on many more exciting adventures together.
They fought bad guys and won every time. Pegasus made winning very easy for the hero.
But Bellerophon made a huge mistake later. He started to feel way too important.
He foolishly thought he was a god. He wanted to live in the sky forever.
He told Pegasus to fly up to Mount Olympus. This was the gods’ secret home.
Normal people were absolutely not allowed there. It was totally against the strict rules.
Pegasus knew this was a terrible idea. But he had to obey the magic golden bridle.
He started flying up toward the powerful gods. The boss of the gods was named Zeus.
Zeus saw them coming from far away. He was very angry at the greedy hero.
Zeus sent a tiny stinging fly. The bug bit Pegasus right on the tail.
The sudden bite hurt a whole lot. Pegasus bucked and jumped wildly in the air.
Bellerophon lost his tight grip on the horse. The hero fell all the way down to earth.
He lost his magic best friend forever. He learned a very hard lesson about greedy pride.
But Pegasus safely kept flying up. Zeus welcomed the beautiful horse into the sky.
Pegasus became a great helper for Zeus. He carried heavy lightning bolts in the dark clouds.
The gods eventually turned Pegasus into bright stars. They placed him in the night sky forever.
Pegasus is the soul of pure freedom. He reminds us that true magic cannot be owned.
